Terminology: Accent characters
Non-English accents are added to basic letter glyphs such as acute ´, circumflex ˆ, caronˇ, grave `, ring or angstrom, tilde ˜, umlaut or diaresis ¨, cedilla ¸, ogonek, inverted breve, breve, stroke, horn, hook and macron ¯.

Åå | Ring or Ångström | Circle immediately above character (also known as Norwegian aa). |
Ãã | Tilde | Wave-like dash above character. |
Ää | Umlaut or Diaeresis | Two dots above character. |
Çç | Cedilla | Half-moon immediately below character, open to left. |
Ąą | Ogonek | Half-moon immediately below character, open to right. |
Ȃȃ | Inverted breve | Bowl shape above character. |
Ăă | Breve | Inverted bowl shape above character. |
Ⱥ | Stroke | Stroke through letters. |
Ơơ | Horn | Horn points up from right of character. |
Ɓ | Hook | Hook points down from varied positions on the character. |
Āā Ēē Ḡḡ Īī Ōō Ūū | Macron | Raised horizontal line above the character. |
µ | Micro | Lowercase Greek letter mu. |
ª | Ordf | Lower case letter "a" in raised position. |
º | Ordm | Lower case letter "o" in raised position. |
Øø | Slash | Letter "O" with a diagonal line (also known as Norwegian O-slash) |
ı | Dotless i | Letter "i" without dot. |
ə | Schwa | Un stressed and toneless neutral vowel sound. |
Ææ | Diphthong (two vowels) of letters "a" and "e". | Typically Norwegian. |
